So today I went to the gym to run on the treadmill - but it was broken! So I decided to cross-train. After my work out, while I was finishing up my abs, a guy comes in, plugs in the treadmill, and starts running. Oy.

I haven't written here in literally forever, but I'd like to get started again. So since my last post, J and I have gotten married, honeymoon-ed in Costa Rica at an amazing eco-resort that had amazingly good vegetarian food (seriously, they have been featured in bon apetit magazine!) and amazingly loud, cool monkeys since we were literally in the middle of the rainforest. We saw macaws flying over the beach, troops of monkeys (spider monkeys, capuchins, and howlers), survived a tiny plane ride - all in all, it was great. I got an offer from the Firm, so I'll be starting there as a full-time associate next year when I graduate law school (7 1/2 months to go! Not that I'm counting, or anything). We moved back to the hell that is LA for our LAST YEAR HERE. God, I can't wait until we are back in San Diego.
Pretty much the highlight of my summer was getting our dog, Rocky. Three days before our wedding James called me at work, and asked "Can you talk??" - OF course, I thought, yeah great he's getting cold feet. But nope, the night before a woman had brought in her 6 year old Pekingese with his eye hanging out - her chihuahua had attacked him. Rather than handing over the credit card, she decided she'd rather put him to sleep. Thankfully the vet said no, and said he'd try to get him adopted. But here's the catch - and what makes me so disgusted - the vet didn't have the surgery performed - he just put Rocky in a cage with his eyeball hanging out - until James got there at 10 am the next morning!! So we adopted him, had the surgery done, and took him home. He was a wreck - all drugged up and in pain. But within a couple of days he showed us his amazing personality. He is so sweet and friendly, and acts just like a puppy! For two "big dog" people, we totally had our hearts stolen by a 16 lb ball of fur. Anyway, that's my update for now. Gotta go walk the Rock!

2L has been over for almost a week, and I am so glad. I like working SO MUCH MORE than going to school, even though I have roughly 12-hour days. I just really like the work I do and the people I work with. I really hope I like the San Diego office as much, because if I don't...well, it would be hard not to stay with Century City.
I gave in and agreed we could buy a big screen TV. Sure, I don't want to spend 1K on a TV, but since its a 3K tv that Paul is getting us a great deal on, how could I say no? Plus, James agreed we can go meet some rescue dogs next week when we move into our apartment in San Diego, yay! There is a totally adorable terrier mix that I've fallen in love with... getting a dog would make my life just about perfect.
My mom has called 7 times today, all about the bridal shower (which she keeps calling the "baby shower" - go figure), or the wedding registry, or something else wedding related. I'm glad she's so excited about it, but really, I hate planning a wedding :) But that doesn't mean I'm not seriously looking forward to my bachelorette party in 2 weeks!

Sometimes, after coming home from a long, stressful day, I realize how amazing my life is. Being greeted by a guy that loves and supports me, and two crazy cats can just make my day.
However, I still can't WAIT for Costa Rica.

My job is amazing. Choosing a firm was difficult, because I had no idea where I would fit in best / where I want to spend all the long hours of an associate. I just felt right w/ the Firm and I am SO glad I chose them. Work has been wonderful - challenging, and busy, and intense, and fun. I love my coworkers, I love the work. Here's hoping the San Diego office is as great. But it's San Diego, so of course it will be.
I won't lie, the money is nice, too.
Today James and I finally booked our Costa Rica plane tickets. Since we'd already booked our cabin at the ecolodge, this was kind of important. I am SO excited. I mean, the wedding will be great. But Costa Rica? PERFECT.
I found out that supermodel Niki Taylor just got married at the hotel we're getting married at. And she used our DJ. This most def. outweighs the fact that my dad found an article online about how our hotel is haunted. But I'm pretty sure ALL hotels are "haunted."
We are now addicted to "24." We Netflixed (is that a word?) the first season and it's been amazing. It never ceases to amaze me how many things I can find to do to procrastinate from studying.
Like updating my LiveJournal.

I let James talk me into getting a new vaccum cleaner - we got $189 Bissel Pet Vac at Target and oh my god - it is the best freaking thing EVER! Our carpet has looked like hell since we moved in here - a 650 SQ FOOT apartment with two cats is not a pretty picture, especially when one cat has long, black hair. This cleaner actually gets all the hair up. So yeah, after watching the (AWESOME) Chargers game, I cleaned the bedroom and it looks amazing. <> and to think I'm spending my time and money in law school -- I should just clean full time.
Oh yeah, and we were SUPPOSED to be at the Chargers game today, but my mother-in-law took the tickets back since she had promised her boss she'd take him to this game, and didn't realize Rob had already given the tickets to us. It was such a great game, it would have been amazing to be there. We're meant to go next Sunday instead, but since I have my Real Estate Transactions final on the Tuesday after, I don't know if I'll be able to make it.
Reviewing community property until James comes home from work at midnight!

Criminal Procedure is officially OVER! All things considered, it was a really fair, straightforward exam. Nothing too tricky, with the exception of the time-crunch. Analyzing 15 pieces of evidence, each with multiple issues, in three hours is tough, even when you have a good grasp of the issues. I'm pretty sure I did well, and considering that I already have my job, I'm not stressing about the rest of finals. Tomorrow I'll review for Wrongful Convictions a bit, and then Community Property. Since those are both entirely closed book, I think I'll hold off on Real Estate until after CP is over.
In non-law school related news, I've got so much wedding planning to do over winter break! I've scheduled appointments to meet with two DJs, and I've also scheduled our final cake tasting. Finally, we're meeting w/ the banquet coordinator at the Grande Colonial to pick out the menu and go over the choices for decor. Hopefully by the end of winter break we'll have picked and contracted with our DJ, sorted out the menu and the decor for the reception, ordered invitations and save the date cards, picked and contracted with our cake baker, and ordered the bridesmaid dresses. Argh, its going to be a busy break. And I need to work on my journal note. Now THAT won't be fun. But Prof. Shapiro has given me some good feedback, so I should be able to make reasonable headway.
On that note, I'm going to watch the rest of Medium, read for pleasure, then head to bed.

I'm hoping someone here can help me :)
My engagement ring is white gold. I've got my grandmother's wedding band, which is yellow gold, and I'd love to use that as my wedding band, for the obvious sentimental reasons. Do you know if it is possible to get a yellow gold ring coated or plated to be white gold? (Or plated in platinum?)
Thanks so much!
